Lisa Etel has sandblasted Dune furniture highlighting the underlying patterns within the wood. The lines trace out the tree’s annual rings of growth.
I enjoy her pieces as the idea is so simple yet effective, she has emphasised the natural beauty of the wood exposing its “individual history”.
She has managed to produce a product that is stylish and unique, yet still functional. This if one of the key points within my own personal manifesto – Drawing me to her work.
Her work is also very minimalistic, the forms in her furniture are very simple and thoughtful, with only the key structural features used. This makes her work very sleek and effective.
