A functional object for use at the table

-Japanese Sharing Bowls-

I have designed a set of bowls that combine both Western and Japanese eating habits. Japanese dinnerware is small and personal, everyone has there own little plates and bowls, creating a very busy and colourful dining experience. Western meals are more focused around one main dish, and an individual plate. I wanted to combine both experiences to bringing together what I think is most special about each tradition

I have combined the patterns and playfulness of Japanese tableware, and the idea of eating your main dish out of a bowl. With the sharing and tapas aspect of Western meals.

The bowls have been designed to come in a set of two, and can be use pushed together when a dish comes with a condiment or used separately. I want my bowls to as some excitement to a dining experience, adding a pop of colour and a unique shape.
